Global compressor manufacturer wanted to enhance competitiveness with major business reorganisation
Paloma Consulting staff worked for a leading global supplier of compressors and ancillary equipment. The company employs 1,500 people across the United Kingdom, Germany and China.
The client wanted to deploy a business wide transformation programme empowering the workforce to improve processes and make the business units more competitive in a tough market.
How we helped
Paloma Consulting staff were involved in one of the first Lean and Six Sigma deployments. Between them they developed and deployed a business improvement programme within all organisational facilities. Initially Lean and Six Sigma were deployed separately although these approaches merged as the programme matured.
Kaizen touched every department and nearly every employee at some point. Six Sigma was rolled out to compliment the Lean deployment and selected staff were taken through all levels of training from Yellow Belt to Master Black belt. The deployments were aggressive with several formalised improvement projects taking place each month. As the business reorganised itself we were involved in the transferring of work from one facility to another.
Over 61 Kaizen events were completed by our staff. Twenty four 6 Sigma training projects were also completed providing a 43 fold return on investment, on subjects including:
• Reduce scrap
• Reduce test failures
• Increase available production capacity
• Improve supplier delivery performance
• Reduce receivables days sales outstanding
• Increase inventory turns
• Make to order lead time reduction
• Reduce order entry process time from receipt to release
